I think it's probably not that many people playing. I actually got my PS4 Thursday (thanks for early shipping, walmart!). There was about 25 people playing. That number has steadily grown to yesterday where there were about 25000. This morning that number was back around 2500.
it's even more likely the problem if you are trying to play something other than core TDM, as that's where about 70% of the players have been.
iI'm a FFA guy, myself, and I've had some trouble finding games as well.
