I agree that (initially) most of the weapons were pretty balanced.
But the map design was...ehh...all the maps were small to medium in size, and pretty simple really, and gameplay became very repetitive and monotonous to me. That's not to say I don't like small maps or chaotic action, I just like them in moderation rather than pretty much every single match. Ghosts is something that offers that through its map variety.
While some call Ghosts a "camper's paradise", one can just as easily say BO2 was a "rusher's paradise". Neither would be really good, but at the same time, BO2's "rusher paradise" label, to me, is more accurate than Ghosts label of being a "camper paradise" from my experience. In Ghosts, I see people actually using different kinds of weaponry and/or attachments in each class while still moving around. I have yet to encounter the "entire teams are camping" myth I see exaggerated. That's not to say I haven't run into campers, I do, but just not nearly to the extent I see complained about. With BO2, a majority of the time, all I saw were SMGs (usually the PDW-57 or MSMC, with the Skorpion to a lesser degree) or shotguns (Remington 870 usually) followed by Select Fire FALs, and one could barely sprint 3-5 seconds before being in someone's face, and there's just no breathing room.
Ghosts has taken away the ability to blindly run around most of the time to actually having to be more aware and even a little tactical. Even if you try to camp, you aren't guaranteed safety/kills due to there being more pathways to travel, and a single weapon type won't completely dominate everything else on virtually every map.
